The conference hotel will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Downtown Orlando.
The address is: 60 South Ivanhoe Boulevard, Orlando, Florida, 32804.
The rates are $149 a night (two queen size beds). The hotel is extending the rate before and after the conference to allow attendees to mix their conference participation with some theme park adventure. (Rates apply to April 1 through April 11, 2019.) March 4th is the last day to book the hotel at the above rate. After that day, the rates will resort to normal pricing.
Click here to go the our dedicated reservation site for the conference hotel or call 866-247-3571 or 407-425-4455, Option #1, referencing the group name: Comparative Drama Conference 2019, code: RL9. If you use the web link and you get a message saying no rooms are available, please contact William Boles at email@example.com and he will have the hotel open up more room availability. In addition, you can contact Erika Winslow (407-313-6027) or Sophia White (407-313-6048) directly at the DoubleTree Hotel.
The hotel has a number of amenities, especially for Hilton Honors members. If you are not yet a member, the CDC recommends you become one to enjoy the free perks that come with that membership. Click here to go to the membership page.
Transportation from Orlando International Airport
(Please be aware that there are three airports in the Central Florida that have Orlando in their title: Orlando Sanford airport [40 minutes from downtown], Orlando Melbourne Airport [60-75 minutes from downtown] and the Orlando International Airport [20 minutes from downtown]. Most major carriers service Orlando International Airport. Please double check when you book your flights.)
There are numerous ways to get from the Orlando International Airport to the DoubleTree hotel.
Some are more expensive than others. If you are interested in ride sharing and seeing when other people are arriving to Orlando International Airport, you might send me your information and I can post it on our Facebook page with your e-mail address.
Renting a car
You can rent a car (in case you come with family members who want to hit the parks while you attend the conference). All the major rental car agencies are located at the airport. (In case you want to rent a car for the day, there is an Enterprise Rental Car Agency just a few blocks from the hotel.) The hotel has a parking deck (around 20 dollars a day) but also on street free parking.
The average cost of a taxi ride is $55, depending on traffic.
Uber and Orlando have come to an understanding and folks arriving to Orlando International Airport will be able to hire an Uber to pick them up.
You can take the Lynx bus and get from the airport to the hotel for $2.
Unfortunately, our shuttle of choice (Mears) no longer takes people downtown from the airport.
Our previous shuttle of choice SuperShuttle had a mixed reaction from attendees a few years ago. Some people found the service exemplary and a few others found it spotty.
However, I have arranged for a discount for attendees using SuperShuttle.
