Rollins Hall. One of the reasons why I love teaching in the building is because of the possibilities the classroom spaces provide. For example, in KWR 320, where my 100 level RFLA class meets, students sit around small oval-shaped tables of five to six. This table and seating configuration (which I\u2019ve taken to calling \u201cislands\u201d or \u201cvillages,\u201d inspired by local activist and Rollins alum Christopher Cuevas, who uses small group activities in social justice workshops) easily facilitates small group discussions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.rollins.edu\/endeavor\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Kline-class.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-352\" width=\"357\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.rollins.edu\/endeavor\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Kline-class.png 720w, https:\/\/blogs.rollins.edu\/endeavor\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Kline-class-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.rollins.edu\/endeavor\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Kline-class-350x197.png 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 357px) 100vw, 357px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-very-dark-gray-color\">The classroom also features enough moveable dry erase boards for every \u201cvillage,\u201d which allows&nbsp;students to work through ideas in-small groups and then show their work to the rest of their classmates.  Recently, I used the classroom\u2019s multiple moveable dry erase boards to set up stations where students moved through the space and provided examples of different topics listed on each dry erase board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-very-dark-gray-color\">While this type of&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.theteachertoolkit.com\/index.php\/tool\/gallery-walk\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">gallery walk discussion activity<\/span><\/a>&nbsp;can occur in a variety of spaces, what I appreciate about KWR 320 is that it\u2019s especially feasible because the classroom itself has been designed for active learning techniques.
