Overall my trip to Barcelona was my favorite part of my study abroad time in Spain. There are truly no words to describe the ambiance of the city and its people. It was so different from all of the other spanish cities I had seen up until that point, and I was baffled to learn Barcelona didn’t even consider themselves apart of Spain (they even had their own dialect of Spanish/French that may not even be considered spanish at all). The city was what i would define as highly cultured but with an openminded and free vibe. The Park Guell, made by Gaudi, was magnificent and so was his Cathedral (the main attraction of Barcelona). The food and flare of the architecture really caught my attention and my heart. Not only was this city surrounded by beautiful mountains, but it had a sea to tan and shop and walk around as well. The sea food was to die for; especially the Paella. Las Ramblas was the main shopping district, and i found that to be incomparable to any other place I have ever shopped at, besides Madrid of course! We really enjoyed the market “san Jose”… I think I liked it better then “Mercado de San Miguel” in Madrid, but it is a close call. Staying in a hostile off of Las Ramblas was the best decision of my trip, because i met other students from 5 other countries who we traveled with for the rest of our time. I think i didn’t just learn from this city, but from the people i met and enjoyed the trip with. We learned a tremendous amount from each others stories, and got to explore a magnificent city together.
