My favorite part of the Verano EspaƱol was our weekend trip to Candelario. After being in the city for a couple of weeks the fresh air was refreshing. The locals were nice and welcoming and the weather was perfect. The town has such a charm to it. There were channels of water that run down the middle or sides of the street, and fountains where you could stick your head under and get a drink. All the houses are made of white plaster, with tiles on top. Some tiled roofs are kept down with stones, which I thought was kind of strange. The apartments that we stayed in was better than my homestay. Everything was rustic and gorgeous. Each night we went down to the local bar and watched the World Cup. During the day we wandered around the city, tried to find a river to swim in, and just hung out and enjoyed the beautiful country.
While we were there we went to a castle and an old bull fighting ring, but I really just enjoyed relaxing in Candelario. I plan to go back some day.
