Final Blog Choice:
Out of all of the cultural activities I experienced during this program, my favorite was my weekend trip to Sevilla and Cadiz. I love Madrid, but it was very refreshing to experience some different/ less modernized towns of Spain. During the train ride, I got to see the Spanish countryside while having the chance to experience a bullet train. Once we arrived in Sevilla, not only did I learn valuable lessons from staying in a hostel for the first time, but I also learned that I have the self-confidence and the know-how to make my way throughout Spain with all of my work that I have been putting in to perfecting my Spanish speaking capabilities.
After visiting the Alcazar and the Catedral, walking through a book festival, and eating at what was an apparently famous restaurant that we happened to stumble upon, I fell even more in love with Sevilla. On the last day of the trip when we went to Cadiz, I had such a wonderful time. Once we figured out what beach to visit in town, it was such a wonderful experience to have a day at the beach Spanish style. It was interesting to see how people conducted themselves quite differently than the way people act at the beach in the United States. Overall, the whole trip was very rewarding since I learned a lot about not only myself but also about the Spanish culture found in smaller towns.
Great post, Morgan! Sounds like this has been a really great experience for you and I’m glad you got to visit other parts of Spain. Sevilla sounds like an amazing city.
