Every week in Madrid is special. One of my favorite things that I experienced while I was in Madrid was my visit to Calderón Stadium, Atletico’s stadium, during the Champions League final against Real Madrid. The crowd was full of energy during the entire game, there was so much excitement, and everyone was proud of their team. Up until the last few moments when Real Madrid scored repeatedly. I have never seen 50,000 people lose their voices so quickly. I later went to Segovia, which was very beautiful. I was delighted to see the aqueduct, built by the Romans to bring water down from the mountains. I was surprised by how well it was preserved. I think that it is the oldest structure I’ve ever seen. I also enjoyed seeing the castle and the view from the tower was beautiful. I later went to the National Auditorium of music to see a performance of Vivaldi by the National Orchestra of Spain. It was the most beautiful music and I loved every second was there. Then I went to free flamenco concert in the Plaza Mayor. It was an interesting contrast with Vivaldi but I also enjoyed it quite a bit, it was loud almost coarse but exciting and lively. Madrid always had something to do and my only regret is that I didn’t go to Toledo, or see a sunset while I was in Madrid at one of the terraces on top of some of the 6 or 7 story buildings.
