I’d have to say that one of my favorite parts of our time in Spain was visiting the city of Sevilla! I only got to spend a weekend there, but it most definitely made a lasting impression. The city is older, with narrow cobblestone streets and cathedrals and buildings that are centuries old. I absolutely loved seeing all of the churches; they were so intricately detailed, from their organs to their altars, every single piece was painted and carved meticulously. The Cathedral of Sevilla was incredible, there were individual little chapels throughout the main sanctuary. The collection of relics they had was amazing, but the most incredible part was the view from the top of the tower. After climbing up 35 really steep ramps to the top (where all the bells are), you could see the entire city of Sevilla! The view was breathtaking. We also went to the Plaza de EspaƱa, where there were rowboats to rent and row around the front of the main building, which was beautiful! All of the bridges were detailed with mosaic tiles, and the whole plaza was set up for a Mass for a saint that was visiting the city – all of the archways had red curtains and the altar was still set up. The main building was gorgeous, detailed with mosaic tiles as well. While we were there, we also saw a Flamenco show; the dancers were so passionate, and the guitarist was absolutely incredible! I loved hearing a guitarist that talented live, it was amazing. The Royal Alcazar was another incredible place we visited. The whole palace was covered in hand-painted mosaic tiles, and the gardens extended throughout the entire place! Every single inch of the walls and floors were covered with the tiles; the whole place was breathtaking. Sevilla also had some of the best mango gelato that I’ve ever had right across the street from the college, it was perfect! The city of Sevilla is so charming and beautiful, and it was most definitely one of my favorite places I visited in Spain!
