This summer, I had the opportunity to spend 6 weeks in Madrid, Spain. It was a great experience and I got to travel all over. I think my favorite place I went was Barcelona. Barcelona has everything a person is looking for when they are traveling: beaches, fun nightlife, good food, great people, history and a unique culture. I only got to spend two days there but in those two days I saw a lot of the beautiful city. My favorite thing though was when I went to the Sagrada Familia. The Sagrada Familia is a huge cathedral that was designed by Gaudi himself. The design is so immaculate that the cathedral is still not finished. It is set to be done in 2026, marking the 100 year anniversary of Gaudi’s death. Even with it being unfinished, the Sagrada Familia was one of the most amazing monuments I have ever seen. It literally took my breath away. The inside of the cathedral is designed to make you feel like your standing in a giant forest with its huge pillars being the trees. Although I did not feel like I was in a forest, I was still awestruck by the beautiful, unique architecture. Gaudi had such amazing creativity and I am happy that I got to experience some of his work. If you are ever traveling in Spain, Barcelona is a must see.
The Sagrada Familia cathedral sounds amazing! Maybe you can plan to go back in 2026 when its finished :).
