After a two week tour of southern Germany (with day trips to both Austria and Switzerland) with my family, I have finally arrived in Münster! Despite the rainy weather these first two days, I can already tell we are going to have an amazing time here this month. To get us familiar with the city, we did a small tour of the most famous Münster sites. My favorite parts of the city would have to be the beautiful cathedrals in the Altstadt (old city). The architecture and details are beautiful from the arches to the stained glass. The history of them is also very interesting. At the Lambertikirche, you can still see the three cages where Anabaptists were hung as a warning to other townspeople back in 1536.
Classes have started and I am getting back into the routine of waking up at 7 to get to school in time. Our first day included a placement test and also an interview with a professor to determine our current level. Many of the students here don’t speak English so we have to communicate with only German. I was surprised at just how many nationalities are represented in my classes. Kapito has planned several activities for us to do throughout our time here in Münster which I’m looking forward to!
There was a lot of excitement here in Münster last night surrounding the semifinal round of the World Cup. Germany played Brazil and won 7-1!! We all met to watch the game together and had a really good time celebrating their win. I can’t wait for the finals match on Sunday!! more of that to come! 🙂
Love the pictures–what great timing to be in Germany for the end of the World Cup!
