Week 2
Settling into a new routine has been a fun and interesting experience; but it hasn’t been an easy one. Having to jump out of bed an hour early to catch my bus, or to try and make time to stop by a bakery for breakfast, is not something I would normally do back at Rollins. I can honestly say that living in Germany for a few semesters has given me more independence than living in the states. Also, having a bit of a language gap really isn’t that bad. I’m finding that getting out, and meeting the local people is actually helping me in my language classes. I sometimes feel like a kid: having to learn everything for the first time. At the same time, though, many people try to practice their english on me. Its a fun process being able to teach others, while at the same time, being able to learn from them. We also get a few good laughs out of how bad we are speaking each others language.
I sincerely agree about the new way of living. Everything was different while in germany, and my routine was nothing like I expected. I gained a sense of independence that I may have not noticed back in my comfort zone at home. I am so happy to have experienced that!
