The end of my first month has been a good month, but also a some odd things happened towards the end. The classes here are so different, they do not have as many assignments as classes at Rollins which is a good and bad thing. The number of assignments is so little it makes me feel like I’m not being productive, because I’ll have to read for maybe one or two of my classes and that is about it. However it is nice because it gives me a chance to go and explore the area a little even if there is not much to explore. I also get to catch up on sleep that I may not have gotten the nights before.
On the same note the past few nights have been odd ones. The dorm I’m living in moved a new girl into our flat. She seemed normal at first I didn’t see too much of her, but she was friendly. Then a couple days later I saw her at the security office, because she was starting to follow one of the other flat mates around. Then the next day at night she start knocking on all of the doors in our flat just at random times throughout the night. So the University did not know what to do with her. They had different people come talk to her, but none of them knew what to do with her. It was starting to worry the flatmates and I because she would be knocking on our doors and so we couldn’t sleep. Everyone was a little freaked out to leave their dorms that often or go in the kitchen to eat. Then finally last night they were able to figure out how to help her. So hopefully they are able to help her and she makes it back okay.
Then last night at a different dorm than the one I stay at a kid died, the university did not say what happened, but there was an ambulance and two or three cops at the dorm. The college also said they are doing a condolence book for the family. That means that any student who wishes to sign it can and then it will be given to the parents which I think is a really nice gesture. However the university sent a follow up email recently saying to recall the email about the student dying so now every is confused as to what is going on.
So all and all it has been a very interesting trip
