Now, the moment I’ve been waiting for months, the moment I get to go and study abroad in Brazil. Yes, kinda late to start a semester. It’s carnival time in Brazil so they wait for it to pass… I know, I wish I could go to Carnival! After moving to the United States two and a half years ago my life has been a joyful ride through many different cultures. These years have taught me one thing I’ve learned to be true, you learn more about your own culture when you are away from it.
The best idea I had was to go home (Dominican Republic) for one week before leaving to Brazil because it has been the perfect cultural transition. I left the United States, where I have had the opportunity to live for the past 2 years. Then I got to come home and enjoy all my favorite foods, go to the places I enjoy, see my friends, and just be reminded of what a happy place this little island is! Now it’s time to finally visit the country I’ve been waiting to visit for so long, Brazil!
Some places you travel to without many expectations, more like you really don’t know what it’s going to be like. However, with Brazil it has been different for me. For so long I’ve created this wonderful scenario in my head of what it will be like when I visit. Will it be what I’ve been dreaming of for so long? Time to hop on that plane and see! Brazil, show me your wonders!
