I love the underground. My biggest fear of coming to London was learning how to use public transportation, but now I am fully adjusted. I use the underground to get everywhere and, thanks to the Oyster Cards that CAPA has given us, it is completely free of cost in zones 1 and 2. Besides the fact that the Underground is so convenient it is also so clean. With the, what I imagine to be, millions of people that use it everyday it is amazing that it is not covered in garbage and smelly. The only garbage that is ever around are the free newspapers or magazines handed out by workers in each station and typically someone will see one lying around not being used and just pick it up for themselves to read during their ride so it’s not even really trash. I’ve been lucky enough to not be inconvenienced by an closures and I haven’t mistakenly went the wrong way on the night buses, yet, which is fantastic. People are also so quiet and respectful of each other on the underground. There is an unspoken code of conduct, until someone breaks then it becomes verbalized it. I’m going to miss having to drive everywhere when I go back to the states.
