Day 1-4
Greece has always been on my bucket list of beautiful places to go to. And I feel so happy to have ventured across such a historic and beautiful country for Spring Break!
We began with an 18 hour ferry ride from Italy to Athens (yes 18 hours… never.. again..), and then transferred to another ferry to arrive at our first destination: Corfu. Corfu was everything I had dreamed about a Greek island being. Rocky coasts surrounded by lush hills filled with orange, olive, and lemon trees, and little quite towns inhabited by sweet old couples and stray cats. Although most of the towns we drove through seemed a little run down but they possessed such a charming and unique character that it was not at all intimidating or disheartening.
The group of us stayed at a hostel named “The Pink Palace” infamously known as being a spring break hotspot. Thankfully, we arrived before spring break season began so we had the hostel at more calm time than most. Each morning we would (attempt to) go the rocky beach (if it was warm enough), and then walk up a dusty trail filled with views that would all be postcard worthy, grab a tart orange off one of the surrounding trees, and enjoy a homemade gyro from the hotel while looking out on the beautiful Adriatic Sea. It felt like something out of a movie.
One sunny morning the hotel and tour group organized an ATV safari through the hills of Corfu. What a day! We were ATVing for about 4 hours; stopping a beautiful outlook points to eat a snack and rest. It was my first time ATVing since I was little so it was quite an experience. Crazy, but very enjoyable.
We ended our week in Corfu with a pink toga party (of course). It was a fun way to bound with our fellow tour group members and try the famous Greek Orzo! Yamas! (cheers!).
