A particular name really stood out to me during these readings, Albert Speer, was a fascinating and controversial figure during the late 1930s and early 1940s. I found it very interesting to read about him and his ability to sort of reshape how Berlin’s city looked in what I thought was a very quick period of time. Most importantly it was interesting to read how much power he gained in such a short period of time. When Hitler beings the reorganization and redevelopment of the city Speer was give the power to veto any building or planning for Berlin. Throughout this whole book so far it kind of shocks me how much power certain people are given in such a short period of time.
One of the striking things about the Nazi Party was how well it engineered a political takeover and the removal of all legal means of protest.
