Between 1915-1923, the Ottoman Empire started exterminating its minority subjects living in the Ottoman Turkish territory. It is estimated that a total of 1.5 million Armenians were killed during this time. However barely twenty-seven countries recognize it as a genocide. On the other side the Jewish Genocide by the Third Reich was recognized worldwide, during which 3 million people died. Both Genocides were brutal and one was more brutal as the number of deaths were greater, however the respective genocides were brutal for both the Armenians and the Jews. Still we don’t recognize the Armenian Genocide the same way we recognize the Holocaust.

The Jewish community has throughout history and even today been a wealthy and powerful community. It is a known fact that most top ranking Hollywood studios executives have Jewish.
My argument is that is our sensitivity towards the Holocaust more due the Jewish influence in our media and pop culture or is it because of America’s roots in the European population. Through out history there have been numerous genocides that could be considered just as heinous. Now, any genocide is a heinous regardless of the numbers and intensity. About 10 million indigenous Americans have been killed all over North and South America by the colonial Europeans, however it does not get the same attention and sensitivity as the Holocaust. The Nigerian Civil War, Cambodian Genocide and Rwandan Genocide are just examples of heinous genocides in history that have not gotten any attention. Do you think that the Holocaust is the worst genocide in history or is there just more sensitivity towards it.
