Studying in Europe has allowed me to see so many places I would’ve never imagined I would be visiting. As my 5th and final month begins I have had yet another amazing trip, this time to Italy! Five girls from the exchange program here and myself started our journey taking a bus to Santander to fly Ryanair to Milan, Italy. Ryanair is known for its low cost flights, although I would definitely not recommend it. WE then found our way to the train station of Milan Centrale and took a train to Monterosso Cinque Terre. This is the first of the 5 towns in the Cinque Terre area. Our first meal was incredible complete with caprese salads and plenty of pasta and pizza for the rest! In the morning we went to our hostel in Riomaggiore, which was located on the side of a cliff overlooking the ocean, absolutely incredible view! We tried our best with communication and between Spanish and English we were able to get around.
We spent the next 3 days in Cinque Terre exploring each of the five towns with each having so much to offer. Just walking around the streets smelled of roses and lemons as they were growing everywhere! Also everywhere you looked you could find some pasta to go or pizza shops, and can’t forget gelato! The food was so amazing there especially the caprese salads for the tomatoes and the mozzarella, just so fresh. My favorite out of the five would have to be Manorola, it had the best view of the town with the colorful houses and the streets were lined with colorful boats parked alongside the restaurants. We also took a hike along side the coast taking about 2 hours from Monterosso to Vernazza, pretty strenuous but well worth the views! On our last night we took a train from Monterosso to Pisa and got a glimpse of the leaning tower right before the sun went down. Overall an amazing trip that I will never forget.
