Going to a Real Madrid game was one of the more exciting events of my time in Spain so far. The electric environment really gave me and all the friends I went with a very good impression of just how much Spaniards care about their favorite sport. I especially enjoyed the group of fans that sat along one of the goal lines and didn’t stop cheering for the entire game, even when it was certain Real Madrid was going to win with hardly any contest. Usually I’m not a fútbol fan because the games are often low scoring, but my opinion was greatly swayed after Christiano Renaldo scored the first three goals for Real Madrid before the end of the first half. Everyone in the group I went with painted their chest spelling ¡Madrid! and we received s lot of positive attention from the other fans at the stadium. Going to the Real Madrid game started my experience in Madrid on a positive note and really got me excited about learning more about Spain and its culture.
