Spain is full of so much history it becomes a little overwhelming, but it also means that there is always somewhere to go and something new to see. I enjoy using the public transportation here and walking a lot, I think their more popular means of transportation is smart and effective! My favorite place in Madrid is called Parque del Retiro. It is a large park that is always occupied by all walks of life. Kids run around and play, while street performers have stunt shows, perform magic tricks or sing and venders sell everything from jewelry to snacks and ice cream :). I have spent most of my time relaxing in the shady grassy areas or riding in a canoe on the pond in the park. Our entire class is taking a weekend long trip this weekend and I am really looking forward to that.
Ps- I’m getting pretty good at speaking Spanish! The most helpful thing is when I encounter someone who doesn’t speak English and go into survival mode, that is when my Spanish has been the best so far!
Buen dia!
