For my final weekend on the Verano program, me and two friends traveled to Valencia, Spain. Although it is one of the largest cities in Spain, I had not heard of it prior to studying abroad here. I was pleasantly surprised by this beautiful city. It is a mixture of old charm and modern appeal from the almost seemingly out-of-place historic churches and castle-like buildings in the city center contrasting with the enormous, futuristic buildings of the arts and sciences museums. Additionally, the city is on an enormous sandy beach (unlike most European beaches which are tiny and rocky). Valencia is definitely a must-see for this program.
