A couple weeks ago, our group took a trip to Candelario, a small village about 3 hours west of Madrid. Candelario itself is a beautiful little town with so much history and beauty. We also took a trip to a nearby town called Granadilla. Granadilla was abandoned about 50 years ago because the locals believed that the land was going to flood. Although it did not, it is still empty. However, there are now groups and summer camps that go and maintain the buildings and the land that has been empty for so long. With some time, it may be livable once again. The castle of Granadilla was beautiful, as were the views from the top of it.
