For my last official weekend in Spain, I decided to treat myself to a weekend away in Valencia. After five weeks of this program I noticed I had surrounded myself with only Americans so much so that I began speaking to local madrileƱos in english without even realizing it. I figured this weekend in Valencia would not only give me time to relax, but also allow me to practice my communication skills much more fluidly. Apart from that, Valencia offered beautiful scenery and plenty of historical sights and attractions to keep me busy enough to never get lonely. My hotel was a five minute walk from the amazing City of Arts and Sciences where I gladly spent six hours wandering from museum to aquarium to the parks before finally finishing my weekend relaxing on the beach. Valencia was a wonderful experience for it showed me another unique Spanish culture, as well as helped me become more comfortable communicating in Spanish with locals.
