Buenos dias,
These pictures are from Valencia on a weekend trip my friends and I embarked on. There were a limited number of weekends we had during our summer program in Spain, so we had to choose the cities we wanted to travel to wisely. Valencia, a city with such beautiful art, culture, and history, was an easy choice for us to make. Valencia is the third largest city in Spain, and with only two and a half days to explore it all, my friends and I kept busy the entire time. We arrived Friday afternoon in the city and went to explore the downtown area right from the train station. On our walk we saw the older town of Valencia, the Valencia Cathedral, and later the City of Arts and Sciences. We explored a museum which had ruins of Valencia back from its Roman days where its name originated from. The entire city used to be on a lower level than it is today. Valencia’s name comes from the latin name “Valentia” which means strength, which was named after Roman soldiers after a battle in present day Valencia. On Saturday we explored the beaches of Valencia, mostly Malvarosa beach, where we enjoyed delicious Paella Valenciana, recommended by all the locals. Later the night we went out to the downtown area to experience some of the Valencia nightlife. On Sunday we went to the Rio Turia and later explored the Oceanografic. Our time came to an end unfortunately that Sunday afternoon, but the experience definitely expanded my horizons on Spain’s array of attractions. A very different city than Madrid, but very interesting as well, Valencia made my abroad experience in Spain much better.
Hasta luego,
