When I signed up for a semester abroad in Dunedin, New Zealand, I had no idea of what I was getting into. We leave Fiji to arrive in Auckland and explore city life. Our “orientation” consists of the Auckland Sky Tower and White Water Rafting over the world’s highest commercially rafted waterfall, at 21 feet. People who are terrified of heights went on this so don’t be discouraged. I also highly recommend eating at Elliot Stables while in Auckland. The best food-court type of setting I’ve had and I’ve had a lot of great food. You really can’t go wrong but the lamb kebabs were a hit. The hot springs in Rotorua are definitely a good experience but be prepared for a stench. There are so many things I could say about orientation, which feels forever ago. The thing is, it’s almost halfway through the semester and I feel like I left LA a week ago, but I also feel like I’ve known the people I’ve met here and through the TEAN program, years ago. I am having so much fun and always have something new and fun to look forward to, but at the same time I just want everything to slow down.
