4 days 9 hours 45 minutes, but who’s counting?
Me. I’m counting.
It would be a lie if I said that my live countdown to London hasn’t been a the theme of my summer. Some people might think that focusing too much on what’s to come distracts from appreciating the present moment; however, I disagree. Not only did my countdown fuel my excitement, but it also made me appreciate the times spent with those I won’t see for the next three months. Though, there was a downside to my countdown: I have made countless lists of what I need to do or what I need to bring along with me. Whether it was one day or a few that had passed, I would find five other things to add to my lists. I leave this upcoming Tuesday and I’m still thinking of things to bring.
The anticipation of my trip and being that this is my first time going abroad took a toll on me. Being from New York City, I have been told that my transition won’t be too hard, after all, I am going from on modernized city to another, but that is no consolation. I have changed my mind so many times on what to pack and what not to pack, how to ease my mind about stepping out of my comfort zone, and how to take in all of this. Because my program is one of the lasts to embark in our adventures, I have had plenty of time to think, edit, and now publish. New things are always intimidating, but how you face them will be the biggest learning experience. I’m ready to learn.
Embrace change. Be open minded. It’s okay to be scared, because it means you’re about to be really brave.
See you soon, London!
