I feel very confident in saying that a perfect one hundred percent of those I have conversed with regarding my trip to Spain have asked where it is in relation to Madrid. Although it has been very amusing, I always appreciate the question because it allows me appear to be more knowledgeable of the country than I actually am. 😀
Not only have some of theses questions been a source of amusement, but they have greatly benefited me by providing me with further incentive to research Oviedo. Due to these frequent conversations I have also received tons of helpful advice that I can apply to my day to day activities while abroad. Outside of my family, the individual who has best prepared me for my trip is my boss, who was raised in Portugal. I say this because we spent countless hours over the summer discussing everything from what to expect upon arrival to the best hang out spots in the country.
While the constant conversations I have had over the summer have served as pleasant reminders of the trip, the departure date still managed to sneak up on me. Between the last minute meet ups with friends and family, to hurriedly stuffing hats into suitcases to represent Atlanta while abroad, I haven’t had the time to really process everything. Now the excitement and last minute jitters are setting in so I am more ready than ever to get the semester started!
P.s. Special shout out to Mike and Dawn for dealing with all of my annoying questions and making this all possible
