Today we visited Stonehenge and Bath. I honestly didn’t know what to expect. We had to get to CAPA early in the morning and the bus ride was only a couple of hours. The area surrounding Stonehenge is rural; we got to see the English countryside. Stonehenge itself is underwhelming. I think the history of the site is interesting but for some reason I was expecting more. Everyone took out their selfie sticks and started taking as many photos as they could in front of the rocks. That’s what I spent most of time there doing. I wish we could have gotten closer to the rocks too. Regardless, I am glad that I was able to visit such an important location.
The next part of the day was spent in Bath. I loved Bath. It was such a pretty town. I think having a Blue Badge tour guide offers a much richer experience. I was fascinated with the Roman Baths. I was amazed at how much they were able to preserve and how advanced the Romans were. I loved walking around inside and I imagined how it was back in the day. I didn’t drink the water, I don’t think I missed out on much though (I heard it tastes like copper)!
Afterwards, we had lunch at a small cafe. I had the best Fish and Chips ever!! I licked the whole plate clean. Then we met for a walking tour. Our blue badge guide showed us around Bath, explaining everything from Jane Austen to the Crescent. All in all, I thought today was very successful. I would definitely love to go back and visit beautiful Bath.
