First off, London is AMAZING and I never thought I would love it this much right off the bat! After moving in with my new roomies, from Arizona State, Ole Miss, and Washington State, we started exploring and going on adventures right away. The first night we went to Schordich and had a great time at a pub/bar. My flat is in located in Islington, right next to Angel Station. It is a 5 story (apartment) building overlooking the city. We have a 24-hour supermarket under our flat, great shops and restaurants just a 3-minute walk away. Also, Monday through Friday is the Chapel Market, where vendors sell fruits and vegetables, electronics, scarfs and goods for the home.
My favorite part of the trip so far has been seeing the London Eye, and especially the London Bridge! I have wanted to see this for so long, and I ventured on my own one afternoon to see it, and it was so cool!
The locals here are so funny! They say things like fit (cute and hot) and the lift (elevator) as well as crisps (potato chips) and pawns (shrimp!). I enjoy talking like them and fitting in. I now say “I need to use the loo” instead of “the restroom”.
The weekend trip this past Saturday to Stonehenge was wonderful! I enjoyed seeing this ancient piece of history and thinking of how these stones appeared in a circle with such a significant meaning! The countryside road trip through the mountains was beautiful! I love scenic routes and seeing all of the scenery kept my mind amused!
I am looking forward to a trip to Ibiza in a few weeks with my flat mates! I can’t wait to explore Europe and visit Paris as well! I am so thankful to be here and happy that I made the right choice to study abroad in London!
