This past weekend I spent the most incredible weekend in the stunning countryside in Wales. Not only was it the most amazing weekend I’ve experienced in the UK thus far, it was also such an amazing experience. I went through a company called Preseli Adventures with two of my flat mates and I can honestly say it was the best investment of my money yet. We were staying at a cute little lodge out in the middle of nowhere essentially. Part of the package deal was that each day had 3 homemade meals and boy were they delicious. The highlight however was the three outdoor activities we got to experience. The first day we went on the most beautiful kayaking trip that I have ever been on. Although it was only around 50 degrees the sun was shining so brightly that I honestly think I would have been okay without the wetsuit we were provided. The most exciting part of the kayak trip was when we saw upwards of 10 seals! I am a huge animal lover so seeing these beautiful and majestic animals freely roaming in their natural habitat was incredible. The mothers give birth to babies in August so there were still quite a few with their white fluffy coats and I just wish I could have cuddled them!
That afternoon we spent a few hours hiking 7 miles along the coast and some of the views literally took my breath away! Theres something about being outside in nature that can really clear your soul and remind you how truly blessed you are.
And finally, on our last day, for the first time in my life I went coasteering. Coasteering is like a combination of climbing along the coastline, swimming and jumping off of cliffs! We swam in and around some caves, again saw some adorable little seals and even jumped off of at least 20 foot coastal cliffs! I would have thought the water would be very cold, and believe me, if anyone is a harsh critic of water temperature, it’s me, however, the 3 inch thick wetsuits we wore definitely did the job. I wish I could spend every weekend exploring the beautiful countryside because it was truly stunning.
The pictures from your adventure in Wales are breathtaking. Do you have any upcoming plans to explore other parts of the UK? I highly recommend that you book a trip to Scotland; a travel group called Proscenium has an amazing weekend tour to Edinburgh and the Highlands.
