The day is Thursday, September 24th 2015, and today marks the completion of my first full month in Italy. It is crazy to think that I have been away from home for an entire month in a country where I don’t speak the language, nor have any idea about its history. Fortunately, I am not taking this experience on alone, I have four of my best friends by my side to support me with whatever challenges come my way.
Prior to arriving in Italy, I was rather concerned with the fact that I will no longer have structure to my life aside from school. At Rollins I had classes 5 days a week, a commit to my fraternal brothers, commitment to the Bonner Program, and a commitment to my parents. Initially I was afraid that the separation from America as well as the atmosphere that surrounds Italy would change my perspective in that regard. As time passed and I settled into my apartment, I realized that despite the fact I am over a thousand miles from my home, there isn’t that much of a difference from home. For example, I still get to eat whatever I want (though it may be pricier,) I get to workout whenever I want, and I get to go to bed whenever I want. In addition, Rome Italy has it perks. Rome is historically rich, its people love Americans, and the girls are so beautiful ;p. Anyway, my roommates and I are gearing up for our next big trip to Capri. Wish us luck and stay tuned for updates in my next post!!
