I have been having so much fun in London, so far. This weekend I went down to Trafalgar Square, and did a little sight-seeing. One of the things that I really enjoy about London is the rich history behind some of the places. It is amazing how old some of the buildings are and their historical significance. For instance Trafalgar Square was named to commemorate the Battle of Trafalgar, which was a naval battle won by Britain in the Napoleonic Wars. Around the square are various statues and monuments. One of the most noticeable monument is Nelsons Column, it was put up to honor Admiral Horatio Nelson who died in the Battle of Trafalgar. The column is one of the most noticeable things when you first walk into the square.
Another part of the square that I really enjoyed was the architecture. The buildings were very pretty, and it was neat to see the architecture around the square. One of the buildings that was especially cool to see was the chapel to the side of the square, and the wrought iron gate that allowed access into the square. Around the square there were many museums, and I would like to go back and visit the museums soon. I still have so many exciting things to do, and I have started planning all my trips around Europe, so the next 2 months are going to be really busy, but really fun.
