Amazingly enough, this month has been just as eventful as my first here in Europe! In addition to beginning classes at the local university we have continued our travels to cities both local and abroad. We kick started October with a visit to the beautiful city of London. With this being my first time visiting London I was blessed with amazing sites and attractions around every corner. The staples of this trip were the London Eye, the London Bridge, Big Ben, the city’s architecture in general, Camden Lock and the Imperial War Museum, although the list could easily continue. The London Dungeon is also a noteworthy attraction as it allowed me to experience the city’s history from an unorthodox and thrilling perspective. Another interesting ….experience, was my first stay in a hostel. Having never stayed in a hostel before I was not quite sure what to expect but I quickly discovered everything I needed to know haha.
Fast-forwarding through the weekend in London, we have officially started school at the University of Oviedo. Although we have less time to explore, it is great to be completely immersed in the Spanish language as all classes are taught in Spanish. The classes are extremely helpful but also serve as an eye opener as to exactly how much I need to progress before I can say I have truly mastered the language. Luckily for us, the Oviedo program also offers out of classroom cultural experiences as well, and we have recently visited Santillana del Mar and Cavandonga. Because both of these places are so beautiful it is extremely difficult to say which is my favorite; but I definitely recommend a visit to both for anyone who happens to visit Asturias.
That’s it for now.
Hasta pronto
