I’ve done quite a bit since my last post!! This entry will be dedicated to September. I went to an opera at the Sydney Opera House (of course) called the Marriage of Figaro. It was fully in Italian which made it slightly difficult to follow, but I still managed to stay until the end. It was definitely worth it because of the plot twists that occurred! Regardless of the actual work, however, I think it is crucial to have this experience of seeing an opera in this venue. I also went hiking in the Blue Mountains for a weekend and oh my gosh that was an interesting time. I roomed with two of my amazing friends, Victoria and Claudia, in a cabin. We, of course, were put in the cabin that had a broken bathroom and a haunted water system. A haunted water system includes the sinks randomly shooting up like volcanos and not being able to use your own toilet or shower. This definitely built character though. The actual hiking experience was one that left me so incredibly proud of myself! We hiked up thousands of steps in the mountains and a few highlights of the experience include: when I was super high up during the hike and our guide/ lecturer had to save me when I tripped and almost fell off of the mountain. She looked at me and said “you worry me sometimes!” It cracked me up (I lived to tell the tale, didn’t I?). Another highlight was when my friends in my hiking group encouraged me so much that they made sure I finished our expert-level hike in “first place”. This meant more to me than they could imagine! This weekend really showed how much athletic potential I have and that I can do anything I set my mind to.
