Just enjoyed the celebrations of Halloween, China style! Visited a local school with one of my program directors whos daughter attends kindergarten there. We were introduced as waiguoren (Foreigners) and greeted happily. And as someone who doesn’t celebrate Halloween often, it was an adventure – carving pumpkins, sending around candy, decorating the classroom and more.
This comes right before the great news that the Chinese government will be lifting the One Child Policy. Little background: The One Child Policy has been in effect for many years, and has affected a lot of couples and families. And the only condition was that parents who were only childs could have two babies. NOW, all couples are given the opportunity to have two children. Which is a great moment in Chinese history, something I am grateful to be here for. And for me, this also means one thing: more little kids to do fun stuff with, like carve pumpkins all day! YAAY.
