In the span of 10 days I visited 4 countries. I signed up for the Weekend Student Adventures (WSA) tour of Central Europe. They are a tour company owned by Rick Steve’s son, Andy. We began the trip in Berlin, Germany then headed to Prague, Czech Republic, Krakow, Poland, and finished in Budapest, Hungary.
Berlin:
I absolutely love German food, so it was great to be back. The process of getting from London to the actual airport is long, so when we got to Germany we were exhausted. We found a great local Schnitzel place that made everything better. The next day we had a great tour Berlin. I loved getting to hear all about the history of this resilient city.
Prague:
The coolest part of Prague was getting to go up in the clock tower and see the city from above. Prague is a fairytale. I also got a delicious Trdelnik, which we couldn’t pronounce so we just called them turtlenecks.
Krakow:
We took a night train to Poland, which was not the best experience. We were 6 in a small room for over 5 hours. All the food in Krakow was super fresh and tasty. We had a traditional polish meal in the evening. It was family dinner style, so it was nice to share this with the rest of the group. I had pirogies for the first time!
Budapest:
Budapest took me by surprise. I thought it was going to be a smaller city, but it reminded me of a larger version of Prague. I missed London a little bit, as certain parts of Budapest reminded me of it. We went caving, which was amazing. It was physically challenging, but I am glad I got to go inside one of the oldest caves in Hungary! I also went to a thermal bath, which was super relaxing.
I definitely recommend participating in a student trip. I got to explore new cities with new people. We had amazing guides that really gave us authentic experiences in each country. I had an amazing 10 days, but I am so happy to be back in London. It feels like home to me. I really don’t want to leave, but I just have to make the most of my time left in the UK.
