One of the most interesting areas in London is Shoreditch. It is a thirty minute walk from my campus. I enjoy going there because it is very different from the usual places that people are accustomed to in London. Shoreditch is a trendy area with a unique style and atmosphere. It is in the north of the city of London. One of the first things that I noticed is all of the grafitti in the area. It brings a lot of character into the neighborhood. You could find a lot of shops that sell non mainstream clothing. The cinema in Shoreditch is very different too. I was able to catch the new James Bond movie Spectre while sitting in a plush armchair. Even the food is untraditional. I went to a restaurant called the Cereal Killer Cafe which only sold cereal. You choose from a selection of over 120 cereals, the type of milk you want, and the toppings. The restaurant fit the neighborhood.
Another interesting event that I went to in Shoreditch was the hackathon at the London Google campus. A lot of programmers and software developers came together to work on codes and create apps. My friend was one of the software developers so I was able to see what was happening first hand. The campus building was really unique and had many fun activities for people to do when they aren’t working.
