This past week we had our first scheduled vacation. We went to Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Macau. It was an incredible experience. I absolutely fell in love with Hong Kong. The people may not speak mandarin, however most of the people living in Hong Kong speak English as well as Cantonese. The air quality in Hong Kong was also much better than that of shanghai. The city was stunning as well; we went to the Peak, which is a large viewing place up along one of the mountains that gives great views of the city. I thought it was great the way the city and the mountains blended in together. The one aspect that caught me slightly off guard about Hong Kong is that they drive on the opposite side of the road. It makes sense when we think about it however considering they were a British colony until not to long ago. Macau was also a great experience, I don’t know if I would return, and its definitely no Vegas, however the rich Portuguese culture that surrounds the area is great. Getting to enjoy the different Portuguese street food while overlooking the St. Paul ruins was quite a nice experience. I was also able to go inside the Gran Lisboa, which is one of the most famous hotels in Macau. Overall I greatly enjoyed our trip!
