It keeps hitting me in waves at random moments how lucky I am to be living this incredible adventure and literally traveling the world. As much as I’m loving exploring new countries, I am so excited to be seeing so many different parts of Italy…Literally things that I’ve only ever dreamed about, seen in pictures, or watched in movies. And I get to live here. Being here and living completely independently has inspired me to take on new responsibility and become the best version of myself. As corny as that sounds, I really do believe it.
This weekend I spent a few days exploring the beautiful city of Barcelona. We stayed in an Airbnb right in the center, no more than a 10 minute walk from pretty much everything. We really lucked out with the weather so we spent everyday outside, wandering and trying to see as much as possible. From La Sagrada Familia to Christmas markets to clubs that don’t shut their doors until 6AM, Barca is a beautiful city where there is never a dull moment. (One of my favorite spots was the beach and La Rambla de Mar.) I also spent those few days learning how much Spanish I have retained since I started studying it 9 years ago. I was pretty pleased that I was able to communicate everywhere I went!
As I return from my last trip traveling through Europe, I’ve been trying so hard not to think about that inevitable final flight that will mean this amazing adventure is coming to a close, so for now I will continue to live in the moment for every moment I have left…I’m still discovering so much that I haven’t seen yet in Rome, which I love! There really is an endless number of things to do here. The Trevi Fountain has finally reopened after being under renovation for whats seems like forever, and it really does take your breath away the first time that you see it. It’s exciting watching the city as more lights continue to go up to welcome the exciting holiday season. Things are surely to get even crazier than usual with Jubilee coming up in a week.
My list of places I have yet to visit and restaurants I’m dying to go back to seems to keep growing, which is a problem as my days here continue to grow fewer. But I’m determined to pack every single day with as much of Rome as possible in these last few weeks.
Ciao for now!
