Smoking here in Germany is very common, so common in fact that I have gotten used to the second hand smoke, and when we do go out the smell always stains my clothes. Maybe I should pick better friends to be around but nah. As of today, my favorite quote has been this “Mauricio tobacco is so cheap here it would be disrespectful for you or anyone not to smoke.” To each his own I guess. It really surprises me to see the comparisons between the smoking culture here and the smoking culture in the good ol’ U.S.A. foe instance here the smokers here in Deutschland want to be extra hipster and therefore roll their own cigarettes. My favorite time for people to roll cigarettes is at very rowdy social events. I’ve seen people here roll their own cigarettes in soccer games or matches (still don’t know the difference), Stuttgart Wasen, bars, and the best one yet was inside of a bakery at 6:30 Am.
i’l do a lot of things for vices in the U.S. but one thing will never, do in my life is walk to a gas station one mile from campus on a below zero sunday night with a wind chill factor and than walk back just to score some filters and tobacco. But aside from the obsession of the Europeans with tobacco I want to thank them for supporting big tobacco, because partly without them we wouldn’t have the marlboro man.
Also realized that these blog posts are actually a min of 200 words so I’m going to stop here, because I have a marketing presentation of a Swiss company(makes no sense I know).
