I had a few days after finals were over and I had not visited Australia. I really wanted to visit my awesome friend Shelly over my semester break, but plans had to change. It was my last week and I needed to have one last adventure. On the night of November 1st, I had bought a plane ticket to see Shelly!! I was leaving the next morning. It was happening so fast but I was ready for the adventure. I knew it was going to be fun, not only was I visiting Sydney but with one of my best friends. My expectations were exceeded. I wish I’d had more time but we honestly packed every second of the day that we could with activities (well Shelly did, she’s a good planner, me not so much). Our adventures went from koalas, to wild (large) birds, to kangaroos, to the Sydney Opera House, to celebrating Shelly’s 21st birthday at Hard Rock, to museums, to ferry rides across the city. The adventures really never stopped, really. We decided we could fit in a beach adventure before my plane, almost resulting in me missing my flight to New Zealand which would have been a disaster because I had timed this flight to make it just in time for my return flights from New Zealand all the way back home. Luckily, Shelly was more concerned and had been checking the time. I was just in love with Sydney and getting lost in the sand and sun at the beach.
I left only wanting to stay longer. Part of me was not worried about missing the plane because it would mean more fun and adventures. I wasn’t ready to go back to reality, I was ready for running around Sydney with Shelly. Internationally traveling friends…check! I was also loving her home situation. While I couldn’t have asked for a better flat of girls in New Zealand, it seemed so comforting to leave with a host family who wasn’t struggling with being away. Thank you Shelly for the adventures and hopefully I can return the favor soon!
