The day had come for my departure and sure enough, this optimist tried to have adventures until the very last minute. Truly, staying up until 20 minutes before your departure for your flight seems like a great idea, until you decide to take a nap which you almost missed your plane for. Nevertheless, I have great friends and made it in time. I had made it for my 3 day travel back home.
The international program at Otago and TEAN (the program who walked us through EVERYTHING) really had our backs from before we arrived, until after. One of the last events offered for us was a Reverse Culture Shock information session. Honestly, I didn’t even know that was a thing. Just being aware of it made such a difference. I kind of arrived back home in a daze, not really ready to process that I was not in New Zealand anymore. It’s more than a month since I am home but I have great memories that continue to entertain me and my friends and families. Although, I do have to say that I truly appreciate the South Florida weather. I mean I get to wear shorts and a t-shirt without pain. It’s not something to underestimate, at all. I do miss walking on the beach next to penguins and seals like it is their world and I am just visiting.
