Ever since I was a child, I’ve visited zoos and aquariums in almost every place that I’ve visited. So, naturally, I had to go to Osaka Aquarium, especially since they have whale sharks at the aquarium.
The aquarium was along the coast and banners for the aquarium lined the past from the station all the way to the aquarium.
As soon as you pass by the front counter and lockers, you walk through a tunnel that has various fish and a few small sharks and rays. It wasn’t a large tunnel, but it was still exciting knowing that there was more to come.
The next area was a forest theme and had various fish, as well as an otter exhibit. I loved the otters, and was able to see the otters during their feeding time. It was a lot of fun to see the otters moving through the water and lounging about.
Some of the next areas had sea lions, harbor seals, and a sea otter. The sea lions and harbor seals were very active, rarely resting and continuously moving around. The dolphins were very active as well, and the seals and penguins were adorable.
This was also the first time that I had seen a capybara and an arapaima in person, so that was really exciting!
The main tank was the Pacific Ocean tank. This was also where the whale sharks happened to be. It was absolutely incredible to see the two whale sharks, especially since they aren’t a common sight in your typical aquarium.
There was also an area that had a large number of spider crabs that were fun to watch.
All in all, I was extremely impressed with the aquarium and would love to go back again before I return to the US.
