I have less than a week in Rome left, and as much as I would love to stop home and see everyone and do my summer traveling, the idea that I will not be returning to Rome, to my new home, seems unreal.
However, I still have a few days left, so for this post we shall focus on the happy. This is for all those thinking about visiting, studying, or living in Rome. Here are some tips/suggestions:
(I will update this if I think of more!)
- The cars may stop for you, but the motorbikes rarely will
- Yes, you can drink from that small fountain spewing water onto the ground, but don’t try to do so from the large one with the statue and the railing
- The best gelato is near the Pantheon
- People will constantly try to sell you selfie sticks
- Suppli are delicious
- You may think no more people can physically fit on this bus, but the Romans will prove you wrong
- You have to ask for the check
- Do not expect the buses to run on time
- Closed at 8 does not mean walk in at 7:59, it means they are in their car driving home by 8
- The Vatican museum is free the last Sunday of the month
- Most of Rome’s museums and sites are free the first Sunday of the month
- Don’t pay more than 10 euro for spray paint art
- Yes, you can have gelato twice in one day….or three times….sometimes more
- Do not hail a taxi off the street, call one or get it from a taxi stand
- Bready is a small fast-food-like restaurant by the second to last stop on the 8 Tram as it heads toward Casaletto: GO THERE, the fried chicken strips are AMAZING
