I believe this was my first trip with ESN Oviedo. There was nonstop rain in Santiago de Compostela (didn’t know it was the rainiest city in Spain). We started straight away with our city tour at the Cathedral of Santiago. This is THE CATHEDRAL of the famous pilgrimage of Camino de Santiago (also known as St.James, Route of Santiago de Compostela, etc…). In this tour, I learned why shells were to be found all over north Spain and their significance. The Cathedral was breathtakingly beautiful. Many Cathedrals later and I still think it is one of the most memorable I have seen.
On our way home that night, we were lucky enough to stumble across some celebrations and right into some drummers. It was great before we charged up again to continue our Erasmus style night. Our next city that trip was to A Coruña. It was beautiful. I love the beach and adrenaline so I did what normal people wouldn’t do and went to the humongous waves next to the Tower of Hercules (Torre de Hércules) as close as I could before I thought it was too dangerous. They weren’t just being paranoid when they warned us of those waves. In the end we got some beautiful pictures and everyone had a great time. I would definitely recommend joining ESN for this one, especially if it’s one of the first.
