Parque del Bueno Retiro literally translates to “Park of the Pleasant Retreat” and after walking through this enormous park, I can understand why. This park is considered to be one of the largest parks in Madrid, stretching for about 350 acres. Yet, before the park become a public park, it belonged to the Spanish monarchy until the 19th century. Upon one’s arrival, you are stunned with the beauty of well-cut grass and greenery but furthermore, one can’t help but stare at the sculptures and monuments that fill the park. The Retiro is packed with people all ages and even offers boat rides on its small but beautiful looking lake. This park is definitely a place I enjoyed visiting and will continue to visit on my trip here in Madrid.
