While we have been here now for the past three weeks the entire time the Euro Cup has been underway. There have been several times that we went to a restaurant in order to watch the game. I have found that sports are a huge part of the German culture unlike the USA. What I mean by this is even if you are not a huge soccer fan everyone from men to women to children alike are watching the game. You can walk into almost every restaurant or café and they will have a TV in which one can watch the match. I find this to be amazing due to the amount of spirit and country pride that you are able to see all across Germany. This is a lot different than the US as the Copa America was going on for the majority of the time we were here and from friends and family back home almost none wanted to watch. The enthusiasm towards soccer is on a completely different level here than it is in the US. This is a little disappointing, even though Argentina did crush the US, over the last few years they have become so much better. Hopefully soon the US will be able to show the same enthusiasm as Germany. I look forward to seeing how Germany is able to do in the rest of the Cup.
