It’s surreal to think that in two days I’ll be in ROME. An enchanting, old and historic city that’s full of beautiful surprises every turn. Now being so close to the departure date, I think about how I decided to go to Rome in the first place. My friends and I were eating at an Italian restaurant in Winter Park and the Italian owner came to talk to us. He told us about Rome and how stunning it is. His eyes filled with wonder as he bragged about his country to us. Ever since that moment I’ve wanted to see what he so enthusiastically shared with us. I’m ready to endure the gruelling 13 hour flight in order to see this beautiful city.
I have, of course, left all my packing to the last minute and am struggling between wanting to bring everything I own and needing to fit everything into one suitcase, but I’ll manage. I live in Argentina and we have a lot of Italian influence. Many Italians immigrated to Argentina and you can see this by the similarity in the language. I’m excited to meet Italians and see the similarities (and differences) between Argentina and Italy. Although I am nervous about learning the language and meeting new people, I cannot wait to begin my semester in Rome!
