My first week in Spain has felt non-stop. After spending less than 24 hours in Madrid, I flew to Oviedo. From there I met my host mom, and we immediately started classes the next day. After a week, I feel adjusted to Oviedo and the time change. I was not prepared for all the hills and walking everywhere. I have over a mile walk to class, so my legs did hurt the first couple days. We have explored around the Oviedo and Gijon. In Gijon, we walked around learning about the history and sights of the city.
In Oviedo, we have spent hours walking around looking at churches, parks, and restaurants. It is part of our course this month to spend one day a week learning about the culture in Asturias. Today, we ended up on the wrong bus, and explored a different area of nature until we were able to make it to the right spot. We spent time at a river where some of the other students swam around. This weekend, a couple friends and I will be traveling to London. Even though I won’t be in Spain, I will have the opportunity to learn about another country’s history and traditions.
