Ciao!
I have been in Rome for almost two weeks now! The first couple of days were super busy with orientation activities and trying to learn our way around the city. Yet I am still getting lost. We have finally settled in to our class schedules and it is starting to feel like normal. I am really enjoying my classes. Especially the fact that half the time class consists of wandering around the city, visiting a museum, or even going to Florence. Today I visited the restoration and conservation facilities in the Vatican Museum. We learned about the different techniques they use to restore works of art and the research they are doing to improve it. However, in my Italian class I mostly get scolded for speaking Italian like it is Spanish.
Monday through Friday we get provided breakfast and lunch and we have four coupons for local restaurants per week. All the food is fabulous and going back to the Rollins meal plan will be difficult. I am also sad to say that every gelato store beats Kilwin’s waffle cone Wednesday in Winter Park.
Thursday I am heading back to Florence and the last two weekends of September we have class trips. One to visit Naples, Pompeii, and Capri, and the other to Venice. I am very excited to continue my traveling!
Arrivederci!
Kelly
