The first two weeks in Oviedo, Spain, has been great. The first night in Spain, I stayed in Madrid where we meet up with a friend who toured us around. We went on a boat ride, explored the city, and obviously tried tapas. That morning we left for Oviedo where we met up with the rest of the Rollins group, and ate a great 5 course meal. The following day we met our host mom, Ana, who is a dream come true. After not even living with her for a month, she will be the hardest person for me to leave. She is so caring, motherly, and always makes sure I have what I need. Not to mention she cooks amazing food and healthy food as well because my twin and I are fitness junky.
Oviedo is not very large so we are already know our way around the whole city. In Oviedo so far, we have climbed a large hill (felt like a mountain) to the top to stand with the statue of Jesus with an amazing view. We have met locals and tried local restaurants and specialties. We have traveled to Gijon and visited the beautiful beaches and a very cool aquarium. Each day we explore a different part, like a food market or the stores that are around. I love the small feel of Oviedo because it feels very home like. Which is especially nice after going out and traveling, we all have a great place to call home for the next three months!
